The probably most beautiful route leads from Pyrgos to Kamari and runs over the highest peak of Profitis Ilias and to the ancient Thera. The well signposted route takes between two and a half and three hours to walk.

Thera is an ancient city that was discovered during excavations. It lies on a long mountain ridge between the seaside resorts of Perissa and Kamari. Alt-Thera, whose location offers a phenomenal view of the Aegean Sea, can be reached on foot, by mule or minibus.

A special attraction is the lighthouse, which is located at the Cape Akrotiri in the southwest of Santorini. From the 110 metre high lighthouse you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the volcanic crater and the open Aegean Sea.

In Fira you will find the Archaeological Museum, the oldest museum on the island. There is an extensive collection of unique finds that have been made in recent decades. The exhibits mainly date from the first millennium before Christ and show interesting depictions of battles and everyday life on vases and other objects.
