The landscape of Santorini is characterized by black sandy beaches and whitewashed houses, which are arranged on mountain slopes in the form of stairs. If you choose a vacation rental in Santorini, located in the centre of the island, the nearest beach is no more than two kilometres away.

From almost every vacation rental on Santorini you can enjoy an indescribably beautiful view of the sea and the houses below at any time of the day. The main island of the Santorini group of islands, a small Greek archipelago, belongs to the Cyclades and is about 120 kilometres from Crete. The nearest islands are Ios and Anafi. Santorini has an airport with a stopover in Athens from Germany. In addition, a ferry from Piraeus, the port of Athens, will take you to your holiday destination after a journey of about ten hours.

The unique flora and fauna as well as the geological characteristics of this volcanic island make Santorini particularly suitable for hiking. The probably most beautiful route leads from Pyrgos to Kamari and runs over the highest peak of Profitis Ilias and to the ancient Thera. The well signposted route takes between two and a half and three hours to walk.

Thera is an ancient city that was discovered during excavations. It lies on a long mountain ridge between the seaside resorts of Perissa and Kamari. Alt-Thera, whose location offers a phenomenal view of the Aegean Sea, can be reached on foot, by mule or minibus.

A special attraction is the lighthouse, which is located at the Cape Akrotiri in the southwest of Santorini. From the 110 metre high lighthouse you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the volcanic crater and the open Aegean Sea.

In Fira you will find the Archaeological Museum, the oldest museum on the island. There is an extensive collection of unique finds that have been made in recent decades. The exhibits mainly date from the first millennium before Christ and show interesting depictions of battles and everyday life on vases and other objects.
