FAQ
Common questions
When do I get paid?
Typically on the day of check-in, as one payout straight into your bank account, whichever platform the booking came from. Your very first payout comes about 48 hours after the guest checks in, while your account details are verified, and for last-minute bookings the payout follows 24 hours after check-in. You can follow every payout in your Holidu account.
Do I need to ask guests for money?
No. The guest pays on the platform they booked through, and Holidu collects the payment for you. You never handle card details, ask for a bank transfer or chase a down payment. If a guest asks how to pay, the answer is simple: through the booking, like any other online purchase.
What happens if a guest cancels?
The cancellation policy of the booking decides what the guest pays. Any change, cancellation or fee is netted against your next payout, so nothing is claimed back from you separately and you don't send money back yourself. Each adjustment shows up on its own invoice, so you can see exactly what changed.
Can I see what I pay in fees?
Yes. The Holidu fee and the channel commission appear as two separate lines on your invoice, each with its rate and amount. You see per booking what the platform charged and what Holidu charged, so there are no surprises when the payout arrives and nothing to work out yourself.
Who issues the guest invoice?
You do, because the guest invoice is legally yours. Holidu fills it in from the booking and numbers it, you check it and issue it, and it goes to the guest by email. In Portugal, guest invoices must be issued with government-certified invoicing software instead, so the pre-filled invoice can't be used there.
What can I give my tax advisor?
Your invoices from Holidu are filed per booking and can be downloaded in bulk. A payout export lists amounts, dates and fees, so your bank statements and bookings match up. An annual DAC7 report is also available in your account, which covers the platform reporting rules that apply to holiday rentals in the EU.
Which invoices does Holidu send me?
For every booking, you get the invoices behind your payout: commission invoices for the Holidu fee and the channel commission, payout invoices and, if a booking is cancelled, a cancellation invoice. They're filed per booking in your Holidu account, so you can find any of them in seconds or download a whole year at once.
Is the guest's payment safe?
Yes. Guests pay securely online on the platform they booked through, and Holidu collects the payment. Card details never pass through your hands, and you don't keep any guest payment data yourself. The money reaches you as a payout to the bank account in your Holidu account.
Do payouts work the same for every platform?
Yes. Whether a guest books on Booking.com, Airbnb, a Holidu site or your own website, you get one payout per booking from Holidu, typically on the day of check-in. You don't track separate payout schedules or statements from each platform; everything comes in one place, in the same format.
