Located on a tiny island off the coast, the monastery is accessed via a narrow wharf. The gleaming white architecture of the monastery stands out against the backdrop of the turquoise waters surrounding it, forging an iconic image that has been photographed millions of times.

The highest peak in Corfu is Mount Pantokrator at 906 meters above sea level, and from its summit you can see the entirety of the island in one panoramic view. The hike starts from the mountain village of Old Perithia, and takes 2 to 3 hours to get to the top. Hungry? There is a great little café up top!

Canal d'Amour, in northwest Corfu, is one of the island’s top natural wonders. It boasts mighty rock formations that create a natural passage from the cove to the sparkling waters of the Ionian Sea. The capital city of the island, Corfu Town is a warren of cobble-stoned alleys and handsome Venetian-era buildings, 16th-century fortresses and gorgeous green squares, myriad ancient churches and more cars and restaurants that you can shake a stick at.
