Vacation Rentals in the Canaries

The Canary Islands are a dream destination for active holidaymakers. This is also due to the varied beaches, sometimes in white Caribbean garb and sometimes in fascinating black. While shallow bays create ideal conditions for a bathing holiday with the children thanks to their almost non-existent waves, the powerful waves and winds on the rougher stretches of coast provide fantastic conditions for surfing, sailing and kiting. Alternatively, you can book a diving course right on the spot and descend into the fascinating depths of the Atlantic at the side of an experienced guide. If you prefer to spend your active holiday on land, the Canary Islands have many opportunities to do so. The island of Tenerife, known as the Mecca for cyclists, stands out here. Get into the saddle and enjoy the breathtaking volcanic, coastal and mountain scenery as the sea breeze blows around you. Particularly recommendable here are routes such as the route up to Spain's highest mountain, the Teide. The cycle routes on Lanzarote are just as beautiful but much flatter, where you can explore lava fields on the "Round of Teguise" or take a round through the valley of a thousand palm trees to the cactus park. Hikers and nature lovers, on the other hand, feel particularly at home in the tropical forests of La Gomera. Here, the routes "San Sebastian - Lomo Fragoso" and "Degollada de Peraza - El Cedro" with their picturesque views are tempting.

There is also no shortage of technical highlights in the Canary Islands. Gran Canaria, for example, is famous for its almond blossom festival "Almendos en Flor" in February and the carnival which lasts several weeks. Also well known is the Rally de Canaris held in Gran Canaria, the apricot blossom festival celebrated on several islands, and the day of the patron saint of fishermen in Las Palmas on 16 July. Also on Tenerife vacationers expect a multicolored Potpourri at Events, which reaches from the splendid processions in the Holy Week over the farmer celebration in August up to the Canarian Folkfest "Sabandeno" in September.

Thanks to their exposed location and proximity to the equator, the Canary Islands are in principle worth a trip all year round. Swimming is also possible on all islands both in the summer and winter months, as the water temperature of the Atlantic does not fall below the 17-degree mark and thus always reaches the temperature level of the summer North Sea. Those who want to rent an apartment on Gran Canaria should, however, arrive between March and October, as the local rainfalls between November and February are more violent than on the neighbouring islands.

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and also attracts the most tourists. The many cheap holiday homes in Adeje are also an ideal base from which to explore the magnificent Teide National Park. Highlight of the park is the already Pico del Teide but there are also numerous other natural spectacles as for example the Barranco del Infierno - the gorge of hell.

On Gran Canaria you will also discover a real natural spectacle! The dunes of Maspalomas extend for six kilometres along the beach area of Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés. A must during your stay in Gran Canaria!

La Gomera is home to the Garajoney National Park and the extensive laurel forests, which are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They represent a unique sight of the Canary Islands.

Also on Gran Canaria is the town of Maipés de Agaete, an open-air archaeological park! Nearly 700 graves in huge hill graves made of volcanic stone make this place an extraordinary destination! 5. Pirámides de Güimar

Discover the pyramids of Tenerife. The ethnographic park Pirámides de Güímer is located in the southeast of the island and is arranged around six pyramids of steps, which are located in the park. The pyramids are about four meters high. The origin, however, is controversial.
