Ericeira is worth a visit all year round because of its proximity to the capital Lisbon. Surfing is also possible all year round on Europe's safest coastline. The ideal travel period, however, depends on the surfing experience. While beginners and occasional surfers paddle out between May and September, the strong winds and challenging waves between October and April are only for experts, who then have even more fun.

You too can set off for the end of the world or at least for what was thought to be the case until the discovery of the Azores. A visit to the wavy Cabo da Roca, the westernmost tip of continental Europe, is especially worthwhile to enjoy the spectacle of the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean.

Those who already move into a vacation rental a stone's throw away from Lisbon should also pay a visit to the city. On the spot, with the Castelo de Sao Jorge, the Torre de Belém and the Concento do Carmo, there are numerous sightseeings waiting to be discovered.
