For most people, Liverpool is the birthplace of the Beatles and home to one of the world’s largest sports teams. But the city also offers a thriving culture, a stunning countryside and lovely beaches that are less than 30 minutes away. In our travel guide you will find great things to do in Liverpool.

1. Hidden Gem Liverpool: Central Library

If you need something to do on a rainy day in Liverpool, then we have a great idea. Having undergone significant renovation in 2013, this library is one of the largest and most beautiful public libraries in the UK. Inside, visitors will find extensive book collections including many rare and important examples of fine printing and book illustration. The interior is a perfect balance between old and new, with both old fashioned rooms, which look like something out of Hogwarts, as well as rooms with a more modern feel. It’s free to join, so if you like to escape in a good book, Liverpool Central Library is the place to go!

4. Hidden Gem Liverpool: Botanical Garden

This secret spot is located in Baltic Triangle, a centre of creativity in Liverpool. It is home to game designers, app developers, a skate park and musicians. Now, if you ask yourself whether the Botanical Garden is just another green spot like in any other city, we can tell you it is not. This place is a bar with cocktails mainly including gin! When you enter the gate you will find a large courtyard with picnic benches, step seating and deck chairs, as well as lights, potted plants, graffiti on the walls and a large bar.
