When we think of Holland as a travel destination we often only think of a city trip to Amsterdam and forget that there is also a seaside. The Dutch coast is 450 km long and has plenty of beautiful beach spots. We found some really cool hidden gems for you around the area of Noordwijk and Zandvoort – just a stone throw away from Amsterdam. – Simply take the train and enjoy a beach day.
In our travel guide, you will find great things to do on the Dutch coast.

1. Hidden Gem Dutch Coast: Tulum

This beautiful white beach house in Noordwijk is one of our favourite beach bars. Although, there are many here, the atmosphere in Tulum is so dreamy. The bohemian interior with tropical materials like bamboo, baskets, wood, rattan and lots of plants makes you really feel like you are in Mexico. The beach vibe is amazing and there is a lot of space with sunbeds to sit outside. There are 2 buildings; the first building is the restaurant where you can reserve a spot for lunch or dinner, and the second building is for snacks and drinks. The food is in both amazing though. If you want to spend the whole day here, we would recommend booking your sunbed in advance on their website.

2. Hidden Gem Dutch Coast: Tyn

Tyn is almost the last beach club on the left of South Beach. Thanks of its location, the weather conditions are good for both wind and wave surfing. Here you can book a class at Surfers Paradise, take a hot shower afterwards and enjoy some delicious lunch or dinner at TYN. How about some Gnocchi with basil pesto, sun dried tomatoes and burrata? Sometimes there are also yoga classes at the beach. Just check on their website. Besides the normal dishes they also offer a BBQ in the evening from 5.30 PM. Sounds great, heh?

3. Hidden Gem Dutch Coast: By Lima

If you are looking for the perfect breakfast spot, this is the place to go. The owners of By Lima believe that a healthy and sustainable lifestyle makes life so much more beautiful. They use mostly organic seasonal products from local suppliers and try to avoid refined sugars as much as possible. You can see and taste that every dish is made with love. How about some gluten free and plant based pancakes topped with lots of fruits? Or a savory sandwich with sweet potato? By Lima is also the best place in Haarlem for coffee and cake. Their selection of cakes is insane – some are even vegan. So order your oat milk cappuccino with a key lime cake, vegan chocolate banana bread or salted caramel cake.

4. Hidden Gem Dutch Coast: Hippie Fish

Slow down, stay a while. That’s the motto of the beach club. As it has the same owners “Tulum”, the interior looks a bit similar. Lots of green, natural materials, wood and rattan. Inside you will find several seats around a fireplace and outside a terrace with some tables for lunch or dinner as well as an area for relaxing and for drinks. In the evening, lots of candles and an open fire create a dreamy beach atmosphere. So cozy up under a blanket and enjoy the evening to the fullest. As the name says: Try the fish! From oysters to salmon and tuna tataki to crab burger. There are also some nice options for vegetarians like the veggie club with beetroot, avocado and tzatziki.
