Senior Technical Product Manager - Ranking & Personalisation (all genders)

As the Product Manager for the Rankings & Personalisation Team at Holidu, you will take the reins in shaping the future of our search engine. You will collaborate closely with a talented, international team comprising data scientists, engineers and an Engineering manager. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the development and maintenance of a robust search engine that delivers optimal rankings for our users. The current ranking algorithms are driven by machine learning models, and you'll be instrumental in guiding their evolution to improve accuracy and user satisfaction. You'll oversee all aspects of the search engine's backend services and infrastructure, ensuring seamless performance and innovation. 

• Backend: Microservices using Java 11, Spring Boot, and Kubernetes

• Data Storage & Processing: Elasticsearch 7, PostgreSQL, Kafka, MongoDB, Redis

• Data Visualization & Usage: Kibana, Redshift, Tableau and internally developed tools

• Monitoring: ELK Stack, Grafana, Looker, Opsgenie and internally developed tools

• User Research & Testing: UserTesting, Clarity

• Project Management: JIRA, GitHub, and more

• Drive Innovation: Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to develop, test, and iterate on new machine learning algorithms and features that enhance search ranking and user experience.

• Strategic Planning: Translate business goals into clear product strategies, roadmaps, and actionable specs.

• Be the Bridge: Act as the key interface between business needs and technical execution by translating business requirements into actionable data science and engineering tasks.

• Measure Impact: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and track the performance of the team, driving continuous optimization and innovation.

• Manage Stakeholders: Act as a liaison between the Ranking Team and other sister teams in the department, ensuring clear communication of goals, progress, and challenges.

• Prioritize Effectively: To enable the team to both achieve short and long-term objectives.

• Educational Background: A university degree in informatics, mathematics, computer science, physics or related fields.

• Experience: 4+ years as either a data scientist or as a Product Manager with experience in ranking or search domains, data-driven applications or related fields.

• Technical know-how: Experience working with data scientists and engineers, with a technical aptitude to understand and contribute to detailed discussions.

• Databases: Good understanding of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elastic Search, etc).

• Analytical mindset: Ability to gather insights from data and make informed, impactful decisions.

• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to connect with both technical and non-technical teams.

• Knowledge of software development cycles: preferably in a start-up environment.
