All roads lead to Rome … and at some point everybody will at least once end up here. The Eternal City with over 2500 years of history, the Vatican as its own state and culinary delights as far as the eye can see attracts millions of visitors every year, not without reason. In our travel guide you will find great things to do in Rome.

1. Hidden Gem Rome: Pizzeria da Remo

This family-run business is THE place to go for the perfect pizza in Rome. Order the pizza Margherita! The classic Roman crust is insane! Paper thin, and crispy, with deliciously melted cheese. Of course, some toppings are encouraged but the simplicity of the Margherita is more than enough!

2. Hidden Gem Rome: Latteria Garbatella

A former milk-bar from the 1930s, today this gem is a stylish bar that offers some of the best cocktails in Rome. Here you will find sodas and alcoholic drinks characterized by an innovative style, which combines exceptional flavors with beautiful presentations. While there’s a small selection of food to enjoy, it’s really all about the cocktails and the ambience. Enjoy your drinks in the cosy, vintage-inspired lounge, or sit outside on the spacious terrace, undoubtedly the highlight of this bar.

3. Hidden Gem Rome: Giolitti

What would a trip to Rome be without gelato? For years, the Giolotti Cafe has been offering some of the best gelato and ice cream in all of Rome. It´s located right next to the Pantheon, which is one of the reasons why it´s always very crowded! But the wait is worth it: Like the crowd, the scoops are huge! Try the nutella flavor; it’s heaven. We recommend trying at least 3 different flavours.

4. Hidden Gem Rome: Mercato Monti

When you stroll around in Monti, one of the hippest areas in Rome, you will surely stumble upon the Vintage Market Mercati Monti. Almost everything you can find here is handmade and unique. It´s a good mixture of fashion, artwork and accessories. Your purchases here help emerging artists. You will definitely find some treasures here!

5. Hidden Gem Rome: Pizzarium

This place has the best “pizza al taglio”, or “pizza by the slice”. The owner Gabrielle Bonci uses only fresh and local ingredients and makes the dough in a special process so that it is simultaneously chewy, light and flavorful. The pizzas are topped with cheese, cured meats, and vegetables from local farms. The assortment of flavors changes according to the season—persimmon, romanesco, pumpkin, and artichokes in cold weather and zucchini, peppers and eggplant during spring and summer. But of course you can also find the classics! During lunchtime, Pizzarium can get crowded – but don´t worry, visitors can take a numbered ticket and wait for their turn to be called.

7. Hidden Gem Rome: Fatamorgana

This gelateria is known for its unique combinations of flavors and dedication to making gelato with exclusively fresh, seasonal ingredients. Depending on the location, you have nearly 50 choices, including almond-cardamom, basil-honey-walnut, blueberry cheesecake, poppy seed, white chocolate and pine nuts. They also are conscious of allergies, making sure to provide gelati made without sugar and dairy as well as gluten-free cones. There are now multiple locations across town (Prati, Trastevere, Via del Corso, Re di Roma) but the shop in Monti is perfectly placed for visitors to soak up the atmosphere of the piazza.
