Apartments in Burgundy

Experience the history, nature and culture of France up close and personal

The Burgundy holiday region in France offers you a varied area with a magnificent natural landscape and many historic towns and villages, so that nothing stands in the way of a combination of cultural and nature holidays. For example, book a vacation rental in Burgundy in the Cèze river valley, from where you can quickly reach La Roque-sur-Cèze, Cornillon or Goudargues. In Goudargues you can swim, fish, canoe or just relax by the water.

Choose a beautiful building as your holiday home

Many houses in Burgundy used to serve as farmhouses or wine yards, so that your vacation rental in Burgundy not only has an incomparably beautiful atmosphere. Such a house is often equipped with a beautiful garden where you can enjoy a glass of wine from the region in the evening. If you prefer to experience an urban flair up close, you can also rent a historic vacation rental in Burgundy, for example in the heart of the old town of Nolay. Burgundy with dog is by the way no problem, since you can take your four-legged friend almost everywhere into the accommodation.

Location and orientation

Holidays in the centre of France

The Burgundy holiday region borders on the French regions of Franche-Comté, Centre-Val de Loire, Champagne-Ardenne and Île-de-France as well as Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes. The foothills of the Massif Central Morvan lie directly in Burgundy and offer a wide area for hiking and mountaineering. Paris is about three hours' drive from the centre of Burgundy.

Travelers and Activities

Enjoy a family holiday by the water

The Morvan lakes can be reached from Paris after a two-hour drive. They offer you a wonderful holiday paradise in the middle of the mountain landscape of the same name. In this nature park you can go swimming, fishing, canoeing, pedal boating or explore the beautiful landscape with its many bird species on foot.

Perfect conditions for a hiking holiday

A holiday apartment in Burgundy is ideal if you are planning a hiking holiday. Because around and over the Morvan there are some round and long-distance hiking trails. The "Grand Site de France" area is also a popular destination for hikers. Here you can stroll through indescribably beautiful vineyards and enjoy the view of the Saône valley or the Roche de Solutré.

In the Song of the Nibelungs, Burgundy, referred to as the Burgundian Empire, is associated with numerous figures.

1. Visit one of the most important monasteries in France

The abbey of Tournus is a Benedictine monastery founded in the 2nd century. It is located on the banks of the Saône, between the hills of the Mâconnais and the lowlands of the Bresse. The building that you can visit there, however, was erected only a thousand years ago and survived all the religious wars and riots of the Middle Ages.

2. How a medieval knight's castle is built

Particularly worth seeing is the Guédelon castle construction site, where a castle with exclusively medieval techniques and tools has been built for around twenty years. The castle is built by volunteer carpenters, blacksmiths, stonemasons, bricklayers, architects and wood turners who use the technical means of the 13th century. The castle is scheduled for completion in 2025.

3. To the great Burgundy wine festival

At the Trois Glorieuses in Nuits-St-Georges there is always a big wine festival on the third weekend in November. The opening ceremony will be celebrated on Saturday at Clos de Vougeot Castle. On Sunday you can take part in a large wine auction in Beaune and buy a delicious drop. The crowning glory of the wine festival is a big feast in Meursault.
