Holidu is one of the world’s fastest-growing vacation rental technology companies. Our mission is to make booking and hosting holiday homes free of doubt and full of joy, by helping hosts generate more bookings with less work and helping guests find a holiday home they truly enjoy. Our team of 700 colleagues from 60+ nations shares a passion for tech, an ambition for constant improvement, and a relentless drive to bring the best experience to more than 40k vacation rental hosts and 4 million annual guests.

Your future team

You'll join our Data Science team within the Business Intelligence department — a group of skilled, passionate data scientists who own Holidu's machine learning and advanced analytics use cases. You'll work directly with experienced data scientists — within and across our cross-functional teams — on topics like rankings and recommendations, user segmentation, cancellation predictions, price optimization, user lifetime value, and business forecasts. You'll work with a large and rich dataset, fast paths from concept to production — and everyone, including interns, is encouraged to bring their own ideas.

Holidu is an AI-first company, and it shows in how we work: your work stays grounded in machine learning and statistics, but you'll have large-scale access to the best AI tools and the freedom to weave them into how you work. There are few better places to learn how modern, AI-first data science is actually practiced.

This role is based in Munich with two office days/week.

Our Tech Stack

We love technology that solves real problems. You'll work with:

  • Flexible data science environment (Python, SageMaker)
  • Database: AWS Stack (Redshift, Athena, Glue, S3)
  • Data Pipelines: Airflow, dbt
  • Experimentation & MLOps: MLflow
  • Data Visualization: Looker, HTML dashboards (AI-generated)
  • Data Analytics: SQL, Python
  • Collaboration: Git

Your role in this journey

You'll take an active part in projects with direct impact on business outcomes like guest conversion, host revenue, and marketing efficiency — supported and mentored by experienced data scientists, and learning from a diverse team across Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering. Concretely, you will:

  • Build machine learning models alongside your mentors — e.g. forecasting, churn prediction, recommendation systems, segmentation — using Python and SQL.
  • Dig into large, real-world datasets in our AWS environment (Redshift, Athena, S3) — exploring, cleaning, and transforming data that millions of bookings run on.
  • Run exploratory analyses to uncover patterns, generate hypotheses, and challenge what we think we know.
  • Help evaluate model performance and interpret results in a business context.
  • Collaborate with teams such as Product, Marketing, and Revenue Management to translate their challenges into data science use cases.
  • Take ownership of your own project or work stream — with experienced data scientists backing you up, you'll drive it from start to finish.
  • Use AI tools throughout your workflow — automating repetitive tasks, speeding up your analysis, and learning what AI-first work really looks like.
  • Participate in team rituals and knowledge sharing — and help shape how we work.

Your backpack is filled with

  • You're in the final stage of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or similar) — or recently graduated — with a strong academic record.
  • Hands-on experience from coursework, your thesis, or personal projects — you can walk us through something you've built and the choices you made (industry experience is a plus, not a requirement).
  • A solid grasp of Python and SQL.
  • Foundational knowledge of statistics and machine learning (e.g. regression, classification, evaluation metrics).
  • Familiarity with tree-based models (e.g. XGBoost, LightGBM) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity for AI tools and how they can make your work smarter and faster.
  • Availability to work full-time for the full 6 months.

Our adventure includes

  • Compensation: Get a fair salary.
  • Impact: Make a difference for hundreds of thousands of monthly users.
  • Growth: Take responsibility from day one and develop through regular feedback.
  • Community: Engage with international, diverse, yet like-minded colleagues through regular events and 2 office days per week with your team.
  • Flexibility: Benefit from our hybrid work policy and the chance to work from other local offices for up to 8 weeks a year.
  • Fitness: Get a corporate Urban Sports Club subscription or a premium gym membership at a discounted rate.
