This makes St. Martin the smallest island in the world that belongs to two states.

The fishing village Quartier d´Orleans is idyllically situated in a hilly area on the east coast. This place is the original settlement and the former capital of the French, which is why you can admire some interesting 17th century buildings here. Take a stroll through the village and then stop at one of the excellent restaurants to get to know the country and its people as well as the specialities of the region a little better.

In Philipsburg, in the Dutch part of the island, the famous carnival always takes place in mid-April, during which different events are held every evening. Of course, you can also attend the parades, which are accompanied by numerous costumed people, music and steel bands. A Miss Carnival is elected every year on the occasion of the festival. In addition to the Grand Carnival Parade, there is also a special parade for children.

Visit the St Martin Zoo, home to more than a hundred animals from 40 species. The animals come mainly from South America and the Caribbean. In addition there is a botanical garden with many exotic plants on the one and a half hectare large area. At the large playground your children will find plenty of space for climbing and romping.

St. Martin is subject to a tropical monsoon climate, which brings holiday guests and residents from August to December rainfall and quite a few hurricanes. The best time to travel is therefore from January to April. When it comes to temperatures, it can get up to 34 degrees Celsius. The water temperature during this time is up to 26 degrees.

On St. Martin there are some breathtaking dive sites, such as south of Philipsburg, where you can admire the frigate "Proselyte" in 17 meters water depth. A special feature is also the Moonhole, a crater under water in which you can dive down to its 21 meter deep bottom.
