In the far east of Bavaria the administrative district and the holiday region Upper Palatinate runs along the state border with the Czech Republic. The western border forms Neumarkt about 40 kilometres east of Nuremberg. The southernmost point ends with the village Neufahrn and in the north Marktredwitz forms the border. An easy tour is the 12th stage of the "Jurasteig", which measures 26.8 kilometres and 658 metres in altitude. The trail leads from Dietfurt to Riedenburg.
