However, the pentagonal tower, which used to serve as a granary, was built around 1050. Take a look at the Kaiserburg Museum with the Knights' Hall, the double chapel and the castle courtyard. From the castle garden you get one of the best views over the city.

The Christmas Market in Nuremberg, one of the most famous in the world, is absolutely worth a visit. It is held on the Main Market Square from the weekend of the first Advent until 23 December. At Whitsun there is always a 12-day festival in Erlangen, the so-called Bergkirchweih, which offers you a comprehensive entertainment programme. Also worth mentioning is the Michaelis-Kirchweih in Fürth, which is the largest street church festival in Bavaria and is celebrated with a harvest festival.
