The state administrative district of Swabia, formed in 1803, belongs to the Free State of Bavaria. Situated in the southwest of Bavaria, Bavarian Swabia extends from the Bavarian Allgäu to the Nördlinger Ries. Further borders are Lake Constance and Tyrol in the south, the Lech in the east, the Iller in the west and Central Franconia in the north.
