Vacation rentals in Vorarlberg

Relax at the foot of the Alps

Austria's westernmost province ranks high in the ranking of holiday regions in the Alpine republic. The range of holiday accommodations is correspondingly large in all price segments. This leaves you spoilt for choice between a rustic chalet with fireplace in the mountains, a modern apartment in vibrant towns like Bregenz and a family-friendly vacation rental in cosy communities surrounded by greenery. You will find what you are looking for in the search for a suitable domicile, especially in places such as Hard and Fronhofen on Lake Constance as well as in the countless winter sports resorts in the east and south of Vorarlberg. You will live in the idyllic villages of Montafon and Lustenau.

Vorarlberg is the westernmost province of Austria.

Travelers and Activities

Winter sports paradise Vorarlberg

Where many high peaks meet, winter sports enthusiasts are usually not particularly far away. This simple rule naturally also applies to Vorarlberg, as there are 43 large and small ski resorts competing for the favour of winter holidaymakers. The top 10 ski resorts alone have a total of 693 km of slopes. Professionals as well as beginners will get their money's worth. Are you bored with downhill runs or would you simply like to try something different? Then the eight snowparks in Vorarlberg are exactly the right address, of which the XXL Snowpark Montafon with its more than 110 obstacles stands out. You can look forward to challenging moguls, adrenaline-charged jumps and technically challenging rail passages to be mastered with freestyle skis or snowboard. If you prefer it a little quieter, you will be spoilt for choice thanks to a network of 25 cross-country ski trails, on which paths you can explore the mountain world, which is characterised by conifers and fantastic views.

Family holiday in Vorarlberg

Anyone who thinks that the curtain will fall at the end of winter in Vorarlberg is wrong. After all, spring is the prelude to the second half of the season, when everyone gets their money's worth who doesn't get really warm with the snow. Look forward to extensive cycling tours on the shores of Lake Constance, panoramic rides along the picturesque rivers and challenging single trails that will enchant ambitious mountain bikers. Even off the saddle, the region is not stingy with family-friendly adventures. How about a stalk on the 3D archery course in Klösterle, for example, a detour to the legendary Bearland Braz or a ride on the steam-powered Wälderbähnle? Anyone who has petrol in their blood should also pay a flying visit to the Rolls-Royce Museum in Dornbirn.

Things to know

Best travel time

With the exception of the months of April and November, Vorarlberg is always in season, so the optimum travel time depends on your individual travel plans. If you would like to use your vacation rental as a starting point for a hiking holiday with your family or mountain bike tours in the mountains, the period between the end of May and mid-September is a good choice. Winter sports enthusiasts will get their money's worth at high altitudes, especially between mid-December and the end of March. Those who want to see the mountain scenery in a golden garment can also book their vacation rental for the less frequented October.

Top 5 travel tips

Lake 1 Formarin

During a hike to the Rote Wand, the second highest mountain in Lechquellgebierge, you will pass Lake Formarin, which glows with intense blue and green tones. An unforgettable moment to spend your break here - at "Austria's most beautiful place", as they say.

2. Lake Constance navigation

Make a Bodenseeschifffahrt. From May to October there are daily round trips to the most beautiful destinations on Lake Constance. This also includes special trips with dance and music! There is no better way than to look at Lake Constance from the water and let the entire scenery have an effect on you.

3rd old town of Feldkirch

Don't miss the wonderful old town of Feldkirch. A unique medieval town centre awaits you. The town was founded around 1200 by Count Hugo I of Montfort and its romantic alleys and medieval townscape give a glimpse of its past.

4th excursion to Sankt Gallenkirch

And also Sankt Gallenkirch has a lot to offer. For example, there is a network of winter hiking trails here which are illuminated over seven kilometres - until 23:30 hrs you have the opportunity every day to end the day romantically. During the day, numerous sun terraces await you on which you can really enjoy yourself and more than 110 km of pistes provide for an exciting skiing pleasure.

CheeseStreet

Discover the Bregenzerwald in a different way: the KäseStrasse takes you along active stations throughout the Bregenzerwald. This will give you an insight into the work of alpine dairies, farms, craftsmen, cheese farmers and more. A varied and enjoyable route!
