Davos is spread over a wide landscape, consisting of the village centre, wide meadows and the surrounding mountains. A holiday apartment in Davos-Platz is just a few minutes walk from the many restaurants, shops and museums of the village. In addition, it is not far from your accommodation to the mountain railways that take you to the most beautiful ski resorts in Switzerland. Typical for Davos are the many holiday homes, which were built in the flat roof style and are often surrounded by a spacious garden. The alpine metropolis of Davos in Canton Graubünden has an extensive winter sports infrastructure. The municipal area of the village, which consists of Davos-Dorf, Davos-Platz, Davos-Glaris, Davos-Frauenkirch, Davos-Wiesen, Davos-Monstein and Prättigau, covers almost the entire Landwasser valley. If you are travelling from Zurich, you will need just under two hours by car to reach your holiday destination.

The widely dispersed community can be easily explored on foot between Davos-Platz and Davos-Dorf. By car, you must observe the one-way regulation in east-west direction, which must be observed from Seehof. In order to reach the mountain peaks, you are offered a number of mountain railways from Davos, such as the funicular to the Weissfluhjoch or another to the Schatzalp.

From Davos you can reach some fantastic downhill slopes, such as those of the Parsenn-Klosters ski area. In the ski area Schatzalp-Strela you can visit not only skiing and snowboarding, but also the historic Hotel Schatzalp. Other winter sports areas in the immediate vicinity are Pischa, Jakobshorn and Rinerhorn.

The mountain railways, which lead to the winter sports areas in winter, are ideally suited in summer to experience mountain hiking at lofty heights. At the top you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of a varied natural landscape. In the canton of Graubünden there are very special dishes that you should not miss. This includes in particular pear bread, which is made from dried pears, grapes, figs, nuts and many different spices. "Schoppa da jotta" is a barley soup that contains barley, vegetables, cream and smoked meat.

Be sure to plan a visit to the Davos forest cemetery, which was designed by Rudolf Gaberel in 1920. The cemetery, where the grave of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and his wife can also be found, is idyllically situated in the middle of a larch grove. The special feature of the tomb is the arrangement of the elliptical graves and the cyclopean entrance gate.

The Swiss Irontrail mountain run and the Swiss Alpine Marathon, which is considered the highest ultra marathon in Europe, take place in Davos every year. Between Christmas and New Year, the Spengler Cup is also held in Davos, a world-famous ice hockey club tournament that attracts up to 80,000 visitors every year. In addition, several classic car meetings take place in Davos, such as the classic car rally Davos Classic, which takes place over the surrounding Alpine pass routes.
