Vacation Rentals in Lombardy

The sacred mountain of Sacro Monte di Ossuccio on Lake Como is one of the most famous in Lombardy. Since 2003 it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List with its many chapels built between 1635 and 1710. The chapels that stand on the ascent to the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Salvation represent the mysteries of the Rosary.

The Castello Sirmione, which was built in the 13th century, lies directly on Lake Garda. It has high walls, numerous towers, its own harbour and a well-preserved town gate. From the keep, you have a fantastic view of the ground plan of the castle as well as of the adjacent old town of Sirmione, which is also worth a visit.

One of the most famous Lombard dishes is the Minestra, a vegetable soup that is prepared with a great deal of content. Another typical dish of the region is "Ossobuco alla Milanese", in English "veal shank in Milanese style". Lombardy also produces risotto alla Milanese, which is grown west of Milan. Not forgetting the excellent wines of Lombardy, such as those of the Franciacorta wineries, the Oltrepó Pavese wine-growing areas and the lands around Lake Garda.
