Holiday in Valley

Location and orientation

Vacation in one of the oldest communities of the district

The municipality of Valley is located in Upper Bavaria, more precisely in the district of Miesbach. The name is supposedly given by the Celtic goddess Fallada, which says something about the age of the place. The village is surrounded by the Munich gravel plain and a pristine landscape through which the Mangfall winds.

Valley became known in the press primarily through the large Radio Free Europe transmitter, which went into operation in 1951 but has since been shut down.

Top 3 travel tips

1. Discover the sights while strolling

Take a stroll through Valley and visit the castle of the same name, a building ensemble consisting of the Old Castle, a brewery, the castle chapel and a residential wing. The chapels of St. Rochus and St. Sebastian are also beautiful and can be found in the Sollach district. The Teufelsgraben Bridge is a technical monument from the 19th century.

2. Pipe organs and the origin of the "Infinite History".

The organ centre is located in the Zollinger Hall as well as in the Old Palace, where an extensive collection of pipe organs is presented. The building of the museum once belonged to Michael Ende, a writer who supposedly found his inspiration for "The Infinite History" here.

3. A place for friends of good brass music

In Valley there is a brass band which offers a repertoire of concert and church music, marching music, mood music for festivals and Bavarian-Bohemian brass music. Concerts are often held. Or you can enjoy the brass music on the occasion of various festivities in Valley.
