What is an iCal Synchronisation?

iCal synchronisation is a tool that automatically keeps your calendar updated across multiple booking platforms. Instead of manually updating availability on each channel separately, iCal syncs your bookings in real-time, ensuring guests always see accurate information about which dates are available or booked.

How iCal Synchronisation Works

iCal (iCalendar) is a standard calendar format used by most booking platforms. When you enable iCal synchronisation, your Holidu calendar shares a unique link with other platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com, or VRBO. These platforms regularly check this link to see which dates are booked or blocked on your property, and they automatically update their calendars accordingly.

This means when a guest books your property on one platform, that date is immediately marked as unavailable on all your connected channels.

Why You Should Use iCal Synchronisation

  • Prevents double bookings: The biggest benefit is avoiding overbooking. Once a guest books through any connected channel, that date is instantly blocked everywhere else.
  • Saves time: You no longer need to manually update each calendar individually. Changes sync automatically across all platforms.
  • Increases bookings: Accurate availability information builds guest confidence and reduces missed booking opportunities due to calendar errors.
  • Reduces stress: You can focus on managing your property instead of juggling multiple calendars.

What Gets Synchronised

iCal synchronisation keeps the following information aligned across platforms:

  • Booked dates (when guests have confirmed reservations)
  • Blocked dates (when you manually block specific dates)
  • Availability status (which dates are open for booking)

Note that other details like pricing, house rules, or property descriptions do not sync through iCal. You will need to update those separately on each platform.
