Online Check-in - How to Connect to Alloggiati Web

Learn how to connect your Holidu property to the Alloggiati Web platform for seamless guest check-in and legal compliance in Italy.

Understanding Italian Guest Registration Requirements

In Italy, all accommodation providers — including short-term rental hosts — must report guest information to the local police within 24 hours of arrival. For stays shorter than 24 hours, guest details must be communicated upon arrival. This requirement is mandated by Article 109 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security.

Who Must Comply?

All types of accommodation providers, including holiday rental hosts on Holidu, are legally required to comply with this regulation. Failure to report guest information may result in penalties, including fines or imprisonment.

Required Guest Information

Hosts must collect and report the following details for each guest:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport or ID number (required for main guest only)
  • Date of arrival
  • Place of birth

Important: Only the main guest must provide the type and number of their ID document. Additional guests must provide basic personal information (full name, date of birth, nationality), but document numbers are not required.

How Holidu Simplifies Compliance

To help you meet legal requirements with minimal manual work, Holidu provides an integrated guest check-in feature that automates data collection, simplifies reporting to authorities, and helps reduce compliance risks. Guests receive a secure check-in link where they enter required details before arrival, and their information can be transferred to Alloggiati Web automatically.

Prerequisites for Connecting to Alloggiati Web

  • An active Alloggiati Web account registered with the Italian State Police
  • Your Alloggiati Web username and password
  • Your Alloggiati Web Service Key
  • Access to a computer (PC) — the Alloggiati Web platform may not display all options correctly on mobile devices or tablets
  • The latest version of the Holidu App installed on your device

Step 1: Retrieve Your Alloggiati Web Service Key

Important: This step must be completed on a computer (PC). The Alloggiati Web platform may not display all options correctly on mobile devices or tablets.

To retrieve your Web Service Key:

  1. Log into your Alloggiati Web account at the official Italian State Police portal
  2. Click on your account name in the top right corner
  3. Select "Chiave Web service"
  4. If you already have a code, copy and paste it into Holidu
  5. If you don't have a code, click "Genera Nuovo Codice" to generate a new one
  6. Copy the newly generated Web Service key

Note: You can only generate one new Web Service key per day. Every time you change your Alloggiati Web password, you must also update the Web Service key in your Holidu account.

For additional reference, consult the official Alloggiati Web Manual (page 28).

  8. Close the form and verify that the connection status shows as active

Data Transmission Timing

Once your property is connected to Alloggiati Web, guest information is automatically transmitted according to the following schedule:

  • For one-night stays: Data is transmitted at 11:00 PM on the check-in date
  • For stays of two nights or more: Data is transmitted at 11:00 PM on the day after check-in

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Error Messages During Validation

If you receive an error message when clicking "Validate," check the following:

  • Verify that your Alloggiati Web username and password are correct
  • Confirm that your Web Service Key is current and has been copied accurately
  • Ensure you are using a computer (PC) and not a mobile device or tablet
  • Check that your Alloggiati Web account is active and in good standing

After Password Changes

If you change your Alloggiati Web password, you must generate a new Web Service Key and update it in your Holidu account to maintain the connection.

Important Reminders About Compliance

  • While Holidu automates data collection and transmission, you remain responsible for ensuring guest information is accurate and complete
  • You must verify guest identification in person at check-in
  • Only the main guest's ID document number is required; additional guests need only basic personal information
  • Keep records of all check-ins and guest information for your documentation and records
  • You can download guestbooks for your records at any time through the Holidu platform
