Location and orientation

Slovenian capital

In the extreme southwest of the country, Bratislava covers an area of 367.66 square kilometres in the region of the same name. With around 426,000 inhabitants, the city is the political, economic and cultural centre of Slovakia.

cityscape of the metropolis

Bratislava is located directly at the border triangle of Austria, Hungary and Slovakia and stretches with 17 districts on both sides of the Danube. In the west and north of the river, the districts lie in the Danube lowlands, the remaining districts are characterised by hills of the Little Carpathians.

Bratislava is an attractive destination for so-called medical tourists. 3,000 visitors alone undergo eye surgery every year.
