The area and getting around
Luquillo is set just 30 minutes away from Puerto Rico’s main airport, Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. There is a shuttle which goes back and forth from the airport and Luquillo. Taking a taxi is another option, but it isn’t particularly cheap. The best option during your time in Luquillo is to rent a car, which allows you more freedom to travel around to nearby sites during the rest of your stay in Puerto Rico as well.
Getting around the townMost places in and near Luquillo require a car to comfortably get around. Some places within Luquillo are walkable, particularly in Playa Luquillo, where you’ll be able to easily walk from the beach to the nearby kiosks and restaurants. To reach the other beaches and to do activities in the rainforest, you’ll need to rely on a car.

5. Visit the Luquillo Art and Culture CenterThis center is home to sporadic live performing arts events and a bi-monthly farmers market called La Feria Agricola. The farmer’s market, which is open the second and fourth Saturday’s of each month, is a must-see while in Luquillo! It is full of fresh, locally grown produce, including some ultra-unique fruits and veggies. You’ll also find home-baked goods, handicrafts, and many vegan and vegetarian products.
