Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world, is located in the northeast of the subcontinent South America and borders Venezuela, Peru and Colombia. The most visited and most famous city is Rio de Janeiro, which is beautifully situated between the sea and the mountains. However, the capital of the country is Brasília. Also worth seeing are the cities of Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte.

The most spectacular natural spectacle of the subcontinent can be found in the "Parque National de Iguaçu" nature reserve, where the waterfalls of the same name thunder down to 80 metres.

1. Visit probably the most famous landmark of the country

The 38 metre high statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro is visible from afar. It is located on the 710 meter high mountain Corcovado, which is situated in the national park of the same name. In the base of the statue, which weighs a thousand tons, there is a chapel, which you should also have seen.

The Brazilians are an extremely festive people, which you will notice at nightfall at the latest. Especially in the centers of Rio and Sao Paulo you can't get along with the Brazilian rhythms in the nightclubs and discotheques. Pompous celebrations also take place during the famous carnival in February and the winter solstice at the end of June.

3. Try Brazilian dishes

The traditional dishes of the country are characterised by meat, fish and shellfish, which are combined with rice, beans, potatoes and pasta.
