Online Check-in - Statistical Reporting in Italy – A Simple Guide for Hosts

Important Notice (Updated October 2025)

Statistical reporting requirements in Italy continue to evolve. This guide reflects the current regulations as of October 2025. Always verify with your local municipality or regional authority for any updates to reporting requirements or deadlines that may affect your property.

What is Statistical Reporting?

In Italy, all accommodation providers are legally required to submit monthly statistical reports to the authorities. These reports help track tourism trends at both national and local levels, allowing governments and local administrations to plan tourism more effectively.

Even if your property was closed or had no guests during the month, you are still required to submit the report.

For more detailed information on ISTAT reporting guidelines, please visit the official ISTAT Reporting Guidelines.

What Information is Required?

Each month, hosts must report the following details about their accommodation property:

  • Property name – The official name of your accommodation
  • Property type – Such as hotel, B&B, holiday home, or other accommodation category
  • Days open or closed – A property is considered open if it was available for at least one day in the month. It is considered closed only if it remained closed for the entire month.
  • Total available rooms for that month – The number of rooms offered during the reporting period
  • Total available beds for that month – The total bed capacity available in your property
  • Total number of guests checked in during that month – Count all guests who stayed at your property
  • Guest nationalities – The countries of origin for all guests. If guests are Italian, the province where they reside must also be reported.
  • Total number of occupied nights – The sum of all nights occupied by guests during the month

How Do Hosts Get Credentials?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where hosts must register to obtain their credentials. The registration process may vary depending on the local authority, but generally, hosts will need to follow these steps:

  1. Identify the correct regional portal based on your property's location
  2. Register as an accommodation provider on the portal
  3. Receive login credentials (username and password) from the regional authority
  4. Use these credentials to submit monthly statistical reports

If you are unsure where to register, check with your local municipality or tourism office for guidance. They can direct you to the appropriate regional portal for your province.

How to Submit the Report?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where accommodation providers must submit their data. Manually submitting reports each month can be time-consuming.

To make this process easier, Holidu offers an automatic statistical reporting feature as part of its regulatory support for the Italian market. Once connected, the required data is sent for you, so you can spend less time on manual submissions and focus on running your property.

Automatic Reporting for Empty Periods

The Holidu ISTAT integration also reports to ISTAT when there are no guests during a given month, supporting full compliance with reporting requirements even when your property is unoccupied.

How to Connect Your Property to Statistics Reporting

Follow these steps to enable automatic statistical reporting for your property:

  1. Log in to your Holidu account and navigate to the Settings section
  2. Find the Statistics Connection or ISTAT Integration section
  3. Enter your regional portal credentials (the username and password you received from your local authority)
  4. Authorize Holidu to connect with your stats account
  5. Click Validate to test the connection
  6. Click Save Changes to complete the setup

Once your integration is active, Holidu will automatically submit your guest data and occupancy information to the appropriate regional authority each month. You will receive confirmation notifications for each successful submission.

What Happens Next?

After you connect your property to the statistics reporting system, Holidu handles the monthly submissions automatically. You no longer need to manually log into your regional portal and enter data each month. The system will continue to submit reports as long as your account remains active and your credentials are current.

For additional support or if you encounter any issues during the connection process, please contact the Holidu customer support team. They can assist you with troubleshooting and ensure your automatic reporting is set up correctly.
