Managing your calendar is one of the most important tasks as a Holidu host. Manual calendar blocks allow you to control when your property is available for bookings, whether you need time for cleaning, maintenance, or personal use. This guide walks you through adding and deleting manual calendar blocks on your Holidu Host platform.
How to Add a Manual Calendar Block
Adding a calendar block prevents guests from booking specific dates. Follow these steps to block dates on your property:
- Log into your Holidu Host account using your email and password
- Navigate to the Calendar section from your host dashboard
- Look for the Availability area on the right side of your screen
- Click the Block button to begin creating a new block
- Select your start date by clicking on the calendar
- Select your end date by clicking on the calendar again
- Click Confirm dates on the right side to proceed
- Fill in any required details in the pop-up form that appears
- Click Save to apply the block to your calendar
Once saved, the selected dates will be blocked and unavailable for guest bookings.
How to Delete a Manual Calendar Block
If you need to remove a calendar block and make those dates available again, you can delete it quickly:
- Log into your Holidu Host account
- Go to the Calendar section
- Find the blocked dates you want to remove
- Click on the blocked dates to select them
- Select Remove Block from the menu that appears
- Confirm your action if prompted
- Save your changes to update your calendar
The dates will now be available for new bookings from guests.
Best Practices for Calendar Blocking
Block Time for Cleaning and Turnover
If you need at least one day to clean your property between guests, block that date immediately after a checkout. Currently, Holidu does not automatically block cleaning days, so you must do this manually. This prevents same-day check-ins if you require preparation time.
Avoid Double Bookings
Keep your calendar updated regularly to prevent accidental double bookings. Review your blocks weekly and adjust as needed based on your cleaning schedule and maintenance requirements.
Plan Ahead for Maintenance
Block dates in advance if you know you will need time for property maintenance, repairs, or personal use. This gives you control over when your property is available for guests.
Manage Long-Term Availability
Holidu does not currently offer automated booking cutoff dates (such as preventing bookings more than 9, 12, or 18 months in advance). To control long-term availability, you must manually block or unblock dates as needed. Review your calendar periodically and adjust blocks to capture booking opportunities while maintaining your preferred booking window.
Monitor Seasonal Patterns
Consider your local seasonal patterns and tourism trends. Block dates during off-season if you prefer, or leave them open during peak seasons to maximize occupancy and earnings.
