Configuring amenities for your property is essential to attract guests and set accurate expectations before they book. Here's everything you need to know about managing your property's amenities on Holidu.
How to configure amenities
Follow these simple steps to update your property amenities:
- Log in to your Holidu account and select the property you wish to modify
- Scroll down and click on "Amenities"
- Activate or deactivate any amenities by selecting or unselecting them
- Your changes are saved automatically in our system
- Please note it could take up to 24 hours for updates to appear on all distribution platforms
- Update your property description if needed to reflect these changes
Top amenities guests ask about before booking
Before making a booking decision, guests frequently inquire about specific amenities. Ensuring these are properly configured increases your chances of attracting qualified bookings:
- Wi-Fi – Guests want to know if it's suitable for video calls and remote working
- Pets – If you allow pets, specify the accepted number or type of pet
- Baby equipment – Indicate if baby cots and/or high chairs are available, how many, and whether there's an extra fee
- Bicycle/motorbike storage – Specify the capacity and whether storage is inside, outside, or sheltered
- Early check-in/Late check-out – Clarify if there's an extra charge
- Air conditioning – Note which rooms have A/C if it's not throughout the property (Note: A/C can only be configured if available throughout the property)
- Parking – Indicate if it's at the property or nearby, and whether spots are shared or private
- Property access – Mention step-free access, suitability for reduced mobility, and whether there's a lift
- Heated pool – Specify if heated year-round and if there's an extra charge
- Shared pool – Indicate how many other guests it's shared with
Important considerations when updating amenities
Keeping your amenity configuration accurate is crucial for maintaining trust and avoiding cancellations:
- Your configuration on Holidu must always be up-to-date and accurate to prevent booking cancellations or compensation claims
- If you remove an amenity that existing guests booked expecting, you must inform them immediately and obtain written confirmation they're still willing to stay
- If guests refuse to stay with the new configuration, you must grant them free cancellation
- Consider offering a discount to existing guests to offset any negative impact from amenity changes
Amenities with optional fees
Some amenities can have configurable fees, such as baby cots, high chairs, towels, or bed linen. However, if an amenity is only available for a fee, it should be configured as an optional add-on service rather than a standard amenity. This means it won't be filterable on booking platforms.
We recommend providing amenities for free whenever possible, as amenities with additional fees can be less appealing to potential guests.
Amenities not available in the configuration tool
If an amenity you want to highlight isn't available in the configuration options, you can include it in your property description text. This ensures potential guests still learn about special features of your property.
