Situated exactly 1 mile from Patterdale, at the southern end of Ullswater, is the gorgeous rural hamlet of Bridgend. Here, nestled amongst the traditional stone-built buildings and barns, is Brookside, a newly refurbished two-bedroom chocolate-box cottage complete with a pretty garden and parking for two cars.
What to do first? Maybe relax in the garden admiring the views across farmland to the fells beyond, or better yet, take to the fells! There are several walking routes of varying difficulties right from the doorstep, including St Sunday Crag, Fairfield, and Helvellyn, to name just a few. Not ready for the outdoors just yet? Make a brew and sit back in the open plan lounge / kitchen area and gaze through the bay window at the view - perhaps light the logburner and sink deeper into the comfy sofa as your holiday begins.
Arranged all on level, Brookside has a simple layout with an open plan kitchen / lounge / dining area, two smart and cosy bedrooms (one double and one twin) and the house bathroom. An eco-friendly air source heat pump keeps the house nice and warm at a steady temperature, but you can of course also enjoy the lovely ambience of a real fire in the logburner.
To the side of the property, there is a lawned area adjacent to the small stream which runs through the garden. Round to the front of the property and you will find the good-sized patio and the bonus of a charcoal barbecue. Imagine sitting out here with a delicious barbecue and something cold and refreshing as you enjoy the panorama of mountain views.

Here you have close to a perfect Lake District bolthole - classic Lake District stone built exterior, modern decor and high-quality fixtures and fittings, your own secluded garden complete with tinkling rill (local name for a small stream), patio and views you will be hard pushed to better. Fell walkers will be spoilt for choice and a route to Patterdale begins on your doorstep. Being set well back from the road, you will enjoy the most peaceful of surroundings and a handy location to explore all of the Ullswater valley and there's also easy access over the Kirkstone Pass to Ambleside and the central Lakes.
