The house provides a peaceful and private respite surrounded by the natural beauty of the Catskill mountains. The house is located along the edge of protected land by the DEP, so the backyard is an endless cathedral of trees as far as you will care to venture. Woodstock, NY (40 min) – famous for music, shopping, and amazing food and outdoor festivals, hiking, etc.

Phonecia (20 min) – features a nice collection of Farm-to-Table fine dining. Sweet Sue's restaurant is among the best breakfast spots we know.

Zume Flum (40 min) – REALLY fun water park nestled in the Catskill mountains. Great place to spend the day with friends or family. (URL HIDDEN)

Tannersville, NY (10 min) – Maggies Krooked Café and Last Chance restaurant are on the main drive with picturesque ice cream shops and artisian store fronts, and if you want something of the beaten path, a visit for dinner at Deer Mountain Inn will leave you speechless..highly recommended.

Windham Resort (20 min) – plenty to do in this neighboring ski town, great food and restaurants, local shopping, movie theater

The Kaatskill Mountain Club is full resort facility that offers the Van Winkle Restaurant, full Spa, gym, indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, and everything you would expect from a full service resort. Also great for corporate retreats.

Skiing
During the winter months, usually running from early December to mid April, Hunter mountain provides the best and closest ski resort to NYC. The Hunter mountain website above can provide all the details you need for an amazing ski getaway. There are also a number of other resorts close by so you can sample a few locations during your stay.

Hiking
The Hunter area makes a great "home base" for hiking the Catskills. Whether you're hiking with family or friends, the beautiful northern Catskills have the trails -- and the scenery -- for you.
We have trailheads for hiking, motor cross and atvs just 2 min walk from our home. Two of the best locations for amazing day hikes are:

The Kaaterskill falls – this is the tallest two tier waterfall in New York State. The hike is moderate and is amazing. The hike itself takes about 1.5 hours, but lunch/dinner is well deserved after this hike. The falls are only 20 mins from our home.

North/South Lake – one of our favorite areas to visit is the North South Lake (NSL) area. NSL provides wonderful beaches for swimming, kayaking, incredible and vast network of hiking trails, breathtaking high elevation views, camping, fishing, and much much more. NSL is only 20 min away from our home.

Featuring over 5 miles of ziplines, these exhilirating tours will offer thrill levels from beginner, to moderate, up through the monster summit zip, reaching heights of over 600 feet above the ground.

Skyride
The Skyride offers breathtaking views of the Catskills during the summer and fall months. Ride the Skyride to the summit of Hunter Mountain and enjiy the panoramic views overlooking the Northern Catskills and beyond. On a clear day, you can see the Green Mountain of Vermont, the Berkshires in Massachussetts and the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Swimming
At the entrance of Hunter Mountain, there is a wonderful local swimming spot that is open every day until dusk. There is a full time lifeguard on duty and a nice beach to sit and bag some rays while the kids enjoy jumping off the dock. North South lake (20 min drive) is also an amazing spot to swim in the giant beach covered lakes with mountain views. One of the near by water parks is Zoom Flume. It is about a 40 min drive and a great place to spend the day. You can also find great spa and swimming facilities at the Kaatskill Mountain Club at the resort only 5 minutes away.
