This UNIQUE four-person "Holiday Church" is an experience you will never forget.
The former Dutch Reformed church is located on the Damsterdiep, in the middle of the Groningen Hogeland, within cycling distance of the nature reserve Het Roegwold and the Schildmeer.
This church is a great starting point for a visit to the city of Groningen, Appingedam with its hanging kitchens or for a day trip to Schiermonnikoog.
But also enjoy the morning or evening with a cup of coffee or tea on the covered terrace or with a chair on the Damsterdiep.
Take a lovely walk around Garrelsweer.The living room is in the form of a church hall with various seating areas, and an organ and a piano.
The organ and piano can be played, the acoustics are excellent.
There is a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a spacious fridge and freezer, six-burner stove, oven, filter coffee maker and a kettle.
There is a large bedroom, accessible via a spiral staircase, with a double bed and a bathroom with shower and toilet.
At the top of the organ there is another double bed which can be reached via a normal staircase.
Outside is a terrace with a roof. Particularities • The minimum age of the main booker for this holiday home is 18 years. • Bed linen is provided, as well as hand and tea towels. • There is NO TV • Surroundings In Garrelsweer, you really are close to the Wadden Sea and thus to the Wadden Islands.
Have a unique experience and go mudflat hiking! Let an experienced guide accompany you across the mud flats and learn all about the Dutch seabed.
It is even possible to cross to (one of) the Wadden Islands on foot.
Another impressive outing is the seal tour.
The ship departs from Lauwersoog to a sandbank where dozens of seals gather to sunbathe.
Speaking of seals, seal centre Pieterburen is also interesting and worth a visit.
For a day of culture, we recommend Groningen, with all its terraces, restaurants, shops, parks and museums.

Bijzonder mooi en ruim kerkje. Een heerlijke tijd gehad met onze kleinkinderen. Fijne woonkeuken met zeer uitgebreide inventaris. Het enige minpuntje voor ons was toch echt wel de nauwe wenteltrap, lastig als je 's nachts een paar keer naar de wc moet. Maar verder is deze bijzondere locatie echt een aanrader.

We hebben een fijne vakantie gehad mede dank zij het lieve kerkje met een welluidend orgel waarop we konden spelen naar hartelust tot in de late uurtjes. Er is veel te doen en te zien in de omgeving. Kortom, we hebben genoten van Kunst, Cultuur, de vele stille kerkjes, de leegte van het Groningse landschap en de hartelijkheid van haar bewoners.

We hebben een fijne midweek gehad.
Het was een mooie en unieke ervaring.
De rust, de ruimte, de ligging, en een zorgzame gastvrouw zorgt voor een fijne vakantie in het oude kerkje te Garrelsweer.
