The impressive nature reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife. There are several hiking trails within the park. These include the Etruscan trail, which includes the archaeological site of Marzabotto (ancient Kàinua), and the trail that leads to the summit of Monte Sole. The nature reserve of Contrafforte Pliocenico is also worth a visit. The Apennines of Bologna offer an unforgettable natural backdrop for your hikes. The scholar, the fat man, the red man - these are Bologna's three affectionate nicknames. In the city you will find the oldest university in Europe, a famous cuisine and the red and yellow buildings that can be seen everywhere in the cityscape.
