Damson Cottage is situated on a quiet lane in the picturesque hamlet of Crook, a lovely one-bedroom cottage, part of a cluster of white-washed stone buildings dating back to the 17th century when the property was originally a local mill workers' cottage.
The gorgeous stone building has been refurbished while maintaining several original features, including exposed beaks and the interior gable-end stone wall.
The "upside-down" property consists of the entrance hallway leading to the double bedroom - a lovely room with fitted wardrobes and French doors leading to the outside rear of the property. Also on the ground floor is the bathroom. It should be noted that Damson Cottage doesn't have a walk-in shower. However, guests have the use of the hand-held shower extension if required.
The spacious open-plan living area with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams is upstairs. To one end is the living room, with comfy sofa seating and armchairs to relax while watching a film or reading a good book. On warm days, open the windows and enjoy the sounds of birds chirping or sheep... making sheep noises.
To the other end of the living area is the modern kitchen, equipped to make cooking a meal a breeze. For casual meals, the breakfast counter is a great space; however, for a more romantic occasion, why not set the dining table and treat your loved one?
Of course, if you don't fancy cooking at all - you are on holiday after all - then stroll up the lane to The Sun Inn at Crook, a fantastic traditional pub serving great food. Alternatively, Bowness and Lake Windermere are just 4 miles away, where you will find a variety of eateries, pubs, cocktail bars, shops and Bowness Pier, where you can hop on board one of the Windermere Lake cruises.
Damson Cottage is a beautiful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of busy lives, yet close enough to the central Lakes to explore all the area offers.
