Resting in the heart of the Peak District National Park, just a stone's throw from the centre of Bakewell, Knoll Cottage is a delightful, double-fronted, stone-built terraced cottage offering a wonderful base for your next break to Derbyshire.
Lovingly restored and boasting a quaint, traditional style, whilst perfectly incorporating contemporary amenities, Knoll Cottage is the ideal property for a couple or small family seeking a holiday to Bakewell.
Following a day's adventure, head in through the original front door opposite the church into the small hallway with original Fossil limestone flooring and take the door into the bright and calm dining room on your right. Rest in the comfy chairs to watch television, warmed by the characterful electric stove-effect fire, settled within the traditional stone fireplace.
Make your way into the refitted kitchen to find an excellent array of appliances including an electric oven and gas hob, fridge with ice-box and a dishwasher. Cupboards contain everything you might require for a fully self-catering break. Come together around the dining table in the attractive dining room for mealtimes, or alternatively, step outside into the enclosed courtyard where patio furniture creates a tranquil setting for dining alfresco. There is lockable access route to the road through the gate in the far corner, through which you can return after a day's activity, accessing the secure bike store / heated boot and coat drying room from the courtyard.
Retire to the snug to rest and relax in front of the electric fire, with two plush sofas and an armchair to choose from, the refurbished original oak parquet floor with local pictures on the pretty pale green walls all adding to the homely atmosphere as you enjoy watching the TV or having a relaxed drink and a chat.
Head up the staircase to find original polished wooden floors and two lovely bedrooms with period features, antique furnishings, and elegant bed linen. The king-size room offers views of the church from one side and overlooks the patio from the other.
The charming twin bedroom enjoys pretty bedheads with a delightful tulip pattern, along with a wonderful wardrobe, with both rooms served by the spacious bathroom, comprising a walk-in shower and a large corner bath for relaxing soaks!
When you can tear yourself away from this tranquil property, venture out into the diverting town of Bakewell, most notably known for its unique and tasty pudding, it has plenty to offer for a great staycation.
Browse the local outdoor market, which occurs every Monday to pick up local produce, souvenirs or just essential shopping, with the livestock market proving to be a theatre-like and unique experience, certainly for city-dwellers!
Stroll along the banks of the River Wye which runs through the town, passing mellow stone buildings and the medieval five-arched stone bridge, with a picture-perfect scene around every corner!
Discover the history within the walls of The Old House, a Tudor house featuring local historical artefacts and exhibits, pick up some sweet treats from the Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, and sample the delicious food at one of the town's restaurants or pubs.
Spend the day admiring the spectacular Chatsworth House, the filming location for Mr Darcy's Pemberley for the 2013 adaptation of 'Pride & Prejudice', expect to be astounded by the grand rooms, opulent artwork, vast grounds and charming playground and farmyard, great for children!
Another excellent outing can be had at Haddon Hall, while Matlock Farm Park is another fun-filled place for all ages.
Evening meals or drinks out are well catered for in the wide range of bars, restaurants and takeaway outlets.
Bakewell is perfect for walkers and cyclists alike to base themselves for accessing endless beauty spots to traverse, with the peaks of Monsal Head, Fin Cop, Stanage Edge, High Wheeldon and Mam Tor all within easy driving range.
For a memorable stay in the charming Peak District town of Bakewell, bring your loved ones to Knoll Cottage.
