This large, detached Grade two listed property is set on the outskirts of the pretty town of Montgomery, close to the town’s amenities.
The Offa’s Dyke National Trail runs close by to the town, providing a good excuse to get on your boots and head off for a walk, with vineyards and homemade ice cream suppliers nearby.
Guests are also very close to the National Trust properties Powys Castle, Chirk Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park.
The Welshpool to Llanfair steam railway, Montgomery Canal, and Lake Vyrnwy are all local and well worth a visit.
Quad biking, paintballing and horse riding are all available locally, and watersports can be found at Bala Lake and in Llangollen, a 40-minute drive.
Historic Shrewsbury is a 30-minute drive away, while within easy driving distance there is also Welshpool and Newtown all of which host a wide range of bars, shops and restaurants, and the west Wales coastline is approximately an hour’s drive away.

Absolutely stunning cottage in a fab location! Shops, teas rooms, local chop shop all within walking distance. Great views from the cottage. The owners thought of everything from books, board games and everything you need throughout the house, (including an umbrella!) Fires were lovely and heated up the cottage in no time. Will definitely be back to the Ramparts!

The Ramparts is in an excellent position for exploring Montgomery and the surrounding wonderful countryside. The Thursday market was brilliant for vegetables and other foods. There is also a Spa general shop, Deli, cafes and friendly pubs. My dog and I enjoyed our walks from the house to the ruined castle and War Memorial. Both have amazing views.
The house is warm and clean.
