Calico Cottage, located in the Historic Lost Bayou Neighborhood of Galveston’s East End, was built in the 1870’s. It has been featured twice on the Galveston Historic Foundation’s Historic Homes Tour and the Clean Galveston Committee’s Garden Tour. Easy walking distance to the Seawall, Galvez Hotel, the Historic Pleasure Pier and several popular restaurants. Going towards downtown the Bryan Museum is two blocks away. The Strand and 21st and Post Office Restaurants, as well as the Harborside Restaurants and Museums, are a short bicycle (or golf cart) ride away. Calico Cottage is centrally located for guest to go to the beach or attend any number of Galveston’s festivals or events that occur on an almost weekly basis.
A classic Victorian stairway leads to a front porch perfect for enjoying a quiet morning cup of coffee. Through the front door there is a dining area to the left with a table that seats eight. To the right is a large living area with a coffee table large enough for everyone to join in family game night or jigsaw puzzles. The hall, with two bedrooms on either side leads to the kitchen with counter seating. The kitchen, equipped with modern appliances and utensils, was designed by the owner to fit the needs of foodies who enjoy cooking. A French door leads to an airy screened porch, excellent for after meal gatherings or entertaining. Through the screen door there is a large open deck and backyard with two hand laid brick patios. The outdoor shower is a refreshing end to a day at the beach.
Calico Cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway or multi-generational family gatherings. This home is warm and inviting in a great location – a place you will want to come back again and again.

Staying in town or near one of Galveston's Historic Districts has its own set of perks and is very different from the West End or near East Beach. Many in town homes are walking distance to the seawall, the beach, restaurants, shopping, the Historic Strand & Postoffice district, the Pleasure Pier, museums, the Galveston-Bolivar Ferry, plenty of other attractions, things to do, grocery stores, Texas A&M University, Shriner’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House and UTMB (University of Texas Medical Branch), one of the largest, most technologically sophisticated emergency care facilities in the world, a level 1 trauma and burn center.

Most houses allow up to four vehicles to be parked at the property, but some properties may not be able to accommodate this maximum. Carpooling is highly recommended. Vehicles should be parked in the driveway or designated parking space. At no time should any vehicle be parked on lawns, yards or dune. Many HOAs do not allow parking for trailers, RVs, boats, etc. Please contact Ryson with any questions.
Trash day is Thursday.
Lasker Park is a short distance (2016 43rd Street) to a public swimming pool with paid daily admission available during summer months. Non-resident adult admission is $6/day. Non-resident children (ages 3-17) must be accompanied by an adult, admission $4/day. Senior admission $4/day. FREE ADMISSION to Active Duty Military (ID required) and children under age 2.
Even if listed as a provided amenity, Ryson is unable to guarantee specific cable packages, networks, channels, cable signal quality, or internet signal quality. Cable may not be available on all TVs. Oftentimes additional TVs are available for guests wanting to hook up their own game systems or streaming devices.
All reservations require a completed Ryson Rental Agreement, and the agreement holder must be at least 25 years of age to rent this property and provide a valid ID at check-in. Check-in time is 4 pm and check-out time is at 10 am.
