Settled in the delightful area of Henlle between the villages of St Martins & Gobowen resting in Shropshire and just on the cusp of the border into Wales, Belmont Bridge is a lovely semi-detached cottage lying next door to the owner's home within private land.
Enjoying a wonderful position next to the Llangollen Canal, Belmont Bridge is the perfect base for avid walkers eager to explore via this historic pathway, as well as within easy reach of North Wales' best attractions including Chirk Castle and Erddig.
Enter the private driveway and park up in the ample space before taking in the pretty, white exterior of the cottage, admiring the historic touches relation to the canal in the garden.
Be welcomed into the homely sitting room after an afternoon of walks and become warmed by lighting the woodburning stove set within an original stone fireplace, with the exposed beams above reflecting the age of the property, you can wind down on one of the two sofas and enjoy watching the TV (sky tv basic package) When the evening comes, take the group's conversation into the kitchen/diner, here you can sit at the sweet dining table while the chef of the group makes use of the appliances in the kitchen, with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and a microwave, as well as a handy washing machine for any muddy walking gear! Rest up in one of the two lovely bedrooms found on the first floor, with a double and a twin to choose from, both nicely decorated and offering storage for your things.
A gleaming bathroom provides a lovely spot to freshen up in, with a bath and a handheld shower perfect for a relaxing soak, as well as a separate walk-in shower too and a warming heated towel rail.
The private land that this delightful cottage sits on includes the owner's fields which are great for some outdoor games with little ones or simply watching the sheep, whilst the guests' garden area includes a lawned space and a slate gravel area with outdoor dining furniture for alfresco meals in the warmer months.
Get ready for a day of exploring, pull on your walking shoes and head to the end of the garden to find the gate which leads straight onto the Shropshire Union Canal footpath, with this historic trail leading northwards to Chirk, over the Chirk Aqueduct via via The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pontycysyllte Aqueduct & Canal and up to Llangollen, or southwards towards Ellesmere, with either route providing lovely scenery and great for all abilities.
The village of St Martins is home to a supermarket and two local convenience shops, as well as an M&S Food being less than half a mile away, with The Poachers and The Keys being excellent pubs all within a mile of Belmont Bridge.
Within easy walking distance, there are two wonderful restaurants offering great menu choices.
Enjoy a visit to the medieval Chirk Castle, run by the National Trust, its history spanning 700 years and home to 18th century state apartments and beautiful formal gardens, afterwards browsing the lovely selection of cafés and tearooms in Chirk.
The bustling riverside town of Llangollen is another must-visit with the Plas Newydd Historic House & Gardens, beautiful waterside walks, and the Llangollen Railway Station home to the heritage railway with vintage steam-powered trains.
Also within easy reach is the town of Oswestry, the British Ironwork Centre, National Trust's Erddig, Pistayll Rhaedr Waterfalls and lake Vyrnwy Reservoir and stunning countryside to explore via walking and cycling.

Four of us stayed here for one week from 22 July 2023. The house is superb, lots of space in all of the rooms and a big garden to play and relax in. The house is about 20 metres from the canal and is extremely quiet.
