4 miles from Colyton, deep in thick, lush hedgerow lanes in the Coly Valley, is the sleepy hamlet of Northleigh, 5 to 7 miles from the lovely coastal villages of Beer, Sidmouth and Branscombe. On the edge of Northleigh, three cottages converted from traditional Devon barns with extensive views over surrounding farmland.
The Shippen opens from the courtyard into an open plan living space with seating area with cosy wood burning stove, dining area, kitchen and glass door to a patio with table and chairs and wonderful views across fields.
On the same level are the two comfortable bedrooms sharing a big family bathroom.
This is a lovely peaceful base for relaxing and enjoying country freedom.

The Shippen is a single-storey cottage converted from a barn on a traditional Devon farm near the little town of Colyton. The cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms, a double and twin, with a family bathroom. On the same level is an open plan living space with seating area with wood burning stove, dining area, kitchen and door to a patio.The adjacent scullery houses washing machine and tumble drier. Outside is also a big shared lawn with barbecue and a games barn. Four miles from Colyton, The Shippen is a welcoming cottage for a fabulous Devon break. 2 Dogs accepted fee charged for second. Please note: the property accepts a 3 night minimum duration of stay. Note: Bookings of only 7 nights from Saturday - Saturday are accepted at The Shippen during the peak season, this is from the 18th July 2026 - 22nd August 2026 inclusive and 17th July 2027 - 21st August 2027 inclusive.
