The charming apartment, Greenmantle, is one of ten dwellings, situated in the middle of The Long House on the ground floor to a peaceful courtyard.
The Long House was once the Greyhound Inn from which a ferry to Annan ran and is presumed to have been the template for Sir Walter Scott's Tavern in "Redgauntlet". It was by repute, the haunt of smugglers and Border reivers.
The names of some of the dwellings take up this Scott connection, while others including Greenmantle, are associated with the author John Buchan.
The two bedrooms and the sitting room with dining area windows look straight over the Solway Firth to Criffel Hills in Scotland.
On warmer days, the breakwater on that side of the house, is a private area on which to sit right by the shingle shoreline.
This would be a great time to watch the birds, study the tide and the mesmeric sea ebb and flow or to watch the spectacular sunsets in the clear sea air. The attractive seaside town of Silloth is just two miles away, and offers many amenities as well as being home to a magnificent championship golf course.
Miles of unspoilt coastline afford wonderful opportunities for walking and birdwatching, while the magnificent Northern Lakes are easily accessible.
Situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Greenmantle provides a special and comfortable place for a couple or small family wishing to explore this beautiful area and appreciate its fantastic seafront location.

Greenmantle is an immaculate seafront apartment located in a pretty courtyard setting in the sleepy coastal village of Skinburness, near Silloth on the Solway Coast, and can sleep four people in two bedrooms. The accommodation comprises a spacious entrance hall which leads to a cosy sitting room with a dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen. There are two comfortable bedrooms, both with uninterrupted sea views, including one double and a single which also has the added benefit of a pull-out single bed. A modern and spacious bathroom completes the accommodation. Outside there is off road parking for one car and the shared use of the private breakwater on the beachfront. Greenmantle provides an ideal touring base for guests wishing to explore this beautiful area and appreciate its fantastic seafront location. Note: Please be advised that there is no freezer facility or washing machine available at this property.

An excellent property with superb views of an ever changing sea.
The property had everything you need for your stay. The TV is a bit small but we just moved it closer.
Skinburness is a quiet village on the entrance to the Solway Firth with no real amenities but is only 2 miles from Silloth which has most of what you need.

Listing it as a seaside property is a bit disingenuous as on that part of the coast only the very nimble can reach the beach, shingle, due to the armouring with very large boulders. Cottage itself was comfy and warn and, with the caveat above would recommend it.
