Lovingly restored, this cottage is full of character, seamlessly combining its original features including exposed stonework and old beams with contemporary fixtures and fittings. Situated in a beautiful area, this holiday home is the perfect base for friends and families to explore the South Pennines and the surrounding fells and valleys of the Brontë Moors. Upstairs offers a stylish, king-size double bedroom with single sofa bed, and picturesque views of the wild meadows and moorland. There is also another king-size double room and a twin room, modern family bathroom and a shower room. Prepare mouth-watering, home-cooked meals in the shaker-style kitchen and gather around the dining table to plan your adventures from this cottage near Todmorden. After a day walking across the glorious South Pennine Moors, or after spending time visiting some of the scenes where the drama series Happy Valley was filmed, retire to the spacious sitting room, featuring lovely wooden flooring, comfy seating, and a second dining area. Curl up by the cosy woodburning stove and catch up on some reading, the perfect way to escape the cold on winter nights. Hebden Bridge is an easy drive away with its upbeat nightlife, fabulous curiosity shops, market held five days a week and the Hebden Bridge Picture House Cinema, serving tea and scones during the intervals! Salter Rake Gate Cottage is a splendid, detached cottage situated high on the Brontë Moors near Walsden, just two miles from Todmorden. The cottage offers a king-size double room with single sofa bed boasting glorious views of the surrounding fells, a king-size double room, a twin room, family bathroom and a shower room. There is also a well-equipped kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a woodburning stove and a further dining area. Outside, there is a patio with furniture and access to a meadow for dog walking, and off road parking for two cars. Salter Rake Gate Cottage is the perfect base for a family break exploring the Brontë Moors and the South Pennine Moors, all year round. The cottage overlooks the owner's private mature gardens. Note: Access to the property is up a steep, narrow drive and parking may be tight for very large cars. Note: Meadow not suitable for young children due to unfenced pond. NOTE: The owner has a car charging facility for electric cars at £15 per charge- please ask the owner for further details on arrival.Note: There is a minimum of a 7 night stay for bookings in mid July and all of August and bookings must start on a Saturday

This is the second time we have stayed. Penny, the owner is amazing and so very helpful. The property is clean and has so much character. Honestly, if you book you will not be disappointed.

Stayed here as a family group for a long weekend . This cottage has been restored to a high standard and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It has all the mod cons and is well equipped with everything that you may need. We didn’t have long enough here so we are hoping to return and further explore the area

We booked for Christmas 2018, and the cottage is comfortable and well stocked. The kitchen is good with most of the equipment you are likely to need - although you might need some extra pans if you are doing a big meal. Beds are comfortable.
