The tourist tax:
You can pay on the spot at many tourist information centres. You can also go to the post office and pay the fee for the number of days you want to stay in the country. The tourist tax is determined by the municipality, but may not exceed 1 euro per day of stay.

General registration:
You generally have to register at the so-called tourist information offices,
which are located in almost every town and can be recognised by the "Tourist-Info" signs (usually next to the post office).
