Barnard Castle, Bowes Museum and Eggleston Hall Gardens are worth a look - 4½ acres of paths, views of the fells, stream and gardens.
There are cycle routes and fishing is available on the River Tees with a permit, as well as on Grassholme and Selset reservoirs where there is also sailing.
The Lake District is a 45 minutes’ drive.
Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

It was a late booking really good value easily booked found it no problem.really clean and homely .had everything we needed..excellent location we would highly recommend it

Lovely cottage very clean only down side we had no heating or hot water from Tuesday to Friday morning. Could do with the boiler sort out and radiators sort out too . Bed very was comfortable lovely set out . There is only on street parking outside light didn’t work. It just needs some TLC.

lovely cottage, would stay again!
shower needs replacing and under bed cleaning but that is all.
We loved the location for cycling and going for walks with our pup.
