Offering peace and quiet and fabulous views, Brae Cottage is the ideal location for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
Brae Cottage was refurbished in 2018 and has a comfortable living room and a separate dining room, perfect for enjoying leisurely meals.
If the weather is fine, enjoy breakfast outside whilst taking in the scenery and perhaps the odd red squirrel or two! This is the ideal location from which to enjoy a variety of activities all within walking distance.
Set in Mabie Forest, you can enjoy the many and varied walking trails and some of the world-class 7stanes mountain biking trails.
There is even a butterfly reserve! There is also so much open space for the kids to run around in, as well as an adventure playground.
A must for the kids too is a visit to Mabie Farm Park, which is nestled just below the forest, where you can feed the animals and see the Belted Galloways, alpaca, llamas and much much more.
It will certainly keep you entertained all day.
Further afield, this area of south west Scotland has so much more to offer, from quiet sandy coves and cliff top walks, to castles like Caerlaverock and Drumlanrig.
Warmed by the Gulf Stream, the area has many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust) and Logan Botanic Gardens, Scotland’s most exotic garden.
A stay here would not be complete without taking a drive along the coast and a wander round the little seaside villages of Southerness, Rockcliffe and Kippford.

Lovely comfortable cottage with excellent outdoor space. Having our dog with us, it was ideal to be able to walk to Mabie forest and also the dog friendly Mabie House Hotel for drinks and meals. The Loch Arthur Farm Shop and Cafe is minutes away for any provisions that you need. Will definitely be back.

A very lovely cottage in the rural south of Scotland.

Could have been a 10/10 as it is a lovely cottage in a quiet location.
However let down by a lack of generosity:
- Also, need to know that the last 200m is without tarmac. Ok to drive but info should say so.
- Poor quality towels and bedding.
- Cheapest possible cutlery, horrible to use.
