Leave the car behind and head to Grassington or the nearby village of Burnsall on foot via the riverside footpaths.
You can stop for a bite to eat and a drink in one of the local pubs, before sauntering back along the River Wharfe.
Bolton Abbey, 9 miles, is sure to thrill history buffs and children alike, with its ancient abbey and magical woodland walks.
The National Trust property of Studley Royal Park and the unusual rock formations at Brimham Rocks, also a National Trust site, both make for interesting days out, and further afield lie the spa town of Harrogate and York, easily accessed and steeped in history.

We have just come back from a lovely weekend staying at Swallows Nest, Hebden. The cottage had everything you could wish for. There are amazing walks from the doorstep, with plenty to explore. A pub and superb tea shop in the village also. We loved it so much we have booked again to stay for longer next time.

Lovely cottage. Very comfy - felt at home straight away. Kitchen was well equipped.
Lovely walks to Grassington and Burnsall from the door. Village tea room also excellent but book online to make sure you get a table.

The cottage was beautiful and one of the best we have stayed at! Even though there was no garden there was an abundance of outside walks and space around the cottage and village! Skipton and Ilkley were lovely towns to visit and Grassington just up the road was a lovely place to visit also!! Would recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if we visitors that neck of the woods!!
