While set in a rural setting, the house benefits from being only 500 yards to the nearest pub situated next to Silver Meadows Wetlands Nature Reserve.
Built in 1895 by the Stonemasons, the property has large windows and high ceilings, to make sure you see the most of the Lake District even while cuddled up on the sofa. Hawthorne House is ideally located between the popular tourist town of Keswick, which is only 8 miles away, and 5 miles away is the charming market town of Cockermouth - the birthplace of William Wordsworth and the oldest town in Cumbria.
Nearby are Whinlatter Visitor Centre and Dodd Wood where you can visit the Ospreys Viewpoint.
The Lakes Distillery is 1 mile away; a pleasant walk along Bassenthwaite Lake. The property is an ideal base for walkers, cyclists and sailors, as it is only 500 metres away from Bassenthwaite Sailing Club.

Accommodation was clean and presentable on arrival. Nice big rooms and fabulous views. A short walk to the local pub and only a ten min drive to the supermarket.
Would definitely recommend. My only criticism would be to take handwash with you as there was only enough for two hand washes in the bot...
