The South Lakes Wild Animal Park is nearby, also the beach and sand hills of Sandscale Haws, National Trust.
Coniston Water and Windermere are both within 14 miles and the Aquarium of the Lakes and the Haverthwaite Steam Railway are also nearby.
The lovely Duddon Valley makes an excellent day out, as does Muncaster Castle and gardens and with fishing and golf nearby there is something to keep everyone entertained.

Nells cottage is excellent. Great location and peaceful. With views of the lake district hills, black combe and coniston old man, etc.
Only downside is small kitchen but able to work round this.
