In the very early days of Seaside, town architect Richard Gibbs and his partner chose to design and build their private cottage in the woods just as Forest Street was beginning to be developed.
Way Back is their original and renovated cottage in this heralded beach community.
Among the most frequently rented and beloved one-bedroom Seaside cottages over the years, tranquil and private Way Back retains its Seaside architectural authenticity. Way Back has a new fully upgraded kitchen and just renovated bathroom, two-zone air conditioning, and upgraded soft furnishings throughout plus the recent addition of a compact washer and dryer.
A reserved parking place in front of the cottage leads via a timber boardwalk through a shady front garden with outdoor seating for two by the private grill to the spacious furnished front deck.
The open-air front deck welcomes you with Adirondack seating for two overlooking your private lush front yard, a perfect location to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening nightcap.
Furnishings and artworks have been updated in the ground floor living/dining/kitchen area, while the original timber walls and floors are reminders that inspired architecture and craftsmanship never go out of style.
The compact stainless galley kitchen features new appliances, including a fridge/freezer/ice maker, countertop convection oven, four-burner gas cooktop, and a small microwave.
The dining space features a compact table that comfortably seats two as the dining area.
The living area features new furnishings with two swivel chairs and a new mounted large flat-screen smart TV. Among the very few pet-friendly rental cottages in Seaside, Way Back is ideal for a couple or solo traveler.

Home is cute and sweetly stocked take home goodies. Bring your own K cups if you want to brew coffee at house. It very much is a tiny home so you have to get creative on where to unpack / store luggage. Location cannot be beat! Easy breezy walk to anywhere you want to go in the Seaside shopping/dining/beach area. Also backs up to WaterColor and easy walk to their boathouse for paddle boarding.
